- In 1960, rookie guard Jerry West joined
- Elgin Baylor and gave the Lakers one of the
- greatest one-two scoring punches in
- basketball history. (Jerry averaged more
- than 29 points per game for his career.)
- Elgin and Jerry both averaged more than 30
- points per game for the Lakers during the
- 1961-62 season.

- In 1968, Wilt Chamberlain joined Elgin and
- Jerry. (Wilt would finish his career as the
- NBAΓÇÖs all-time highest scorer. His record
- was later broken by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.)
- In the 1968-69 season, Elgin averaged
- 24.8 points per game, Jerry 25.9, and Wilt
- 20.5. But despite having three future Hall of
- Famers in their starting five, the Lakers lost
- to the Celtics in seven games in the NBA
- Finals.
